Privacy and cookies
What this site collects, why, where it is kept, and how to get rid of it. Written to be read rather than to be survived.
Who is behind this site
The Southwest France Guide is an independent guide to buying, moving to and living in the Duras area of south-west France. It is not an estate agency and not a listings portal.
Enquiries are handled by Tina Barnes, who works under the Arthurimmo.com name at Chrome Immobilier Duras, 14 place du 11 Novembre, 47120 Duras, France. If you send your details through this site, they reach her.
What we collect
Only two things, and one of them is optional.
- When you ask for the guide: your first name, your email address, what you told us you are looking for, the language you were reading in, your browser's user-agent string and the date and time.
- If you accept cookies: Google Analytics, which tells us which pages are read and roughly where readers are, never who they are.
There is no account to create, no payment taken, and no advertising network following you from here to anywhere else.
Why, and on what basis
- Your enquiry is used to send you the guide and to let Tina answer you. The basis is your consent, given when you submit the form, together with steps taken at your own request before any agreement.
- Analytics runs only on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time on this page.
Where it is kept
Enquiries are stored in a database hosted in Paris, so the information you send stays in the European Union.
The site itself is served by Vercel. The email telling Tina about your enquiry is delivered by Resend. If you accept analytics, Google processes that data, which can involve transfers outside the EU under the safeguards Google publishes.
Who sees it
Tina, and the service providers above acting only on our instructions. Nothing is sold, rented, or passed to advertisers. If you ask Tina to introduce you to a notaire, surveyor or other professional, she will ask you first.
How long we keep it
Enquiries are kept for up to three years from our last contact with you, which is the period the CNIL considers reasonable for commercial prospecting, and then deleted. If you ask us to delete yours sooner, we will.
Analytics data is held by Google under the retention setting on the property, and carries no name or email.
Your rights
Under the GDPR and the Loi Informatique et Libertés you can ask for a copy of what we hold, have it corrected, have it deleted, restrict or object to how it is used, or ask for it in a portable form. You can withdraw consent at any time without giving a reason.
Ask Tina on WhatsApp and she will pass it on. If you are not satisfied with how we respond, you can complain to the CNIL, 3 Place de Fontenoy, TSA 80715, 75334 Paris Cedex 07, or at cnil.fr.
Cookies, specifically
- Your cookie choice is remembered in your browser's own local storage. It is not a cookie, it is never sent to us, and it exists only so we stop asking.
- Google Analytics sets cookies only after you accept. Decline and the script is never loaded, so no analytics cookie is set at all.
- We use no advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking of any kind.
Getting in touch
WhatsApp is quickest, on +33 6 33 59 39 34, and it is the same number on the back of the guide. For anything you would rather put in writing, including a request about your own data, email tina@southwest-france.com.
Changes
If this notice changes in a way that affects you, the date at the top changes with it. This version replaces anything said earlier.
